The Music and Radio Industry     Campaign for America

You can help increase participation in the world’s most important election.

about us

About Us

YouGotta.Vote is a non-partisan campaign to help increase voter turnout in one of the most important elections of our lifetime – the Fall 2020 Presidential vote.  It began as a collaboration between Alan Burns and Associates and Joel Denver’s AllAccess.com, but has grown with the participation of music artists and artist management, record labels, and radio stations and on-air talent.

YouGotta.Vote provides information and resources that professionals from both industries can use to help drive participation

In the 2016 Presidential election one candidate won the popular vote while the other won the Electoral vote. Increased turnout can increase the likelihood that the winner of this year’s election will win both the popular and Electoral vote – and thus increase Americans’ confidence in the result.

Twenty million Americans have reached voting age since the last Presidential election. Many of them aren’t registered to vote yet.

Important Notes for Radio

Radio is the most emotionally powerful of all media  and can make a giant contribution.  You can help drive voter participation with live personality mentions, recorded promos, social posts, artist liners and even events.

The key points are:

-    Voting matters! Your voice matters.

-    You must be registered before you can vote

-    For registration information, go to vote.gov.

-    Vote – with friends (Research indicates people – especially young people -  are more likely to vote when it’s a social activity and/or they sense that others in their peer group are voting).

Vote.gov is a US Government web site that simplifies the process of registering and/or confirming registration in each state.  As a government-run site it is non-partisan.

Non-partisan messages such as the sample copy below qualify as Public Service Announcements.

We know your air time and personal energy are precious – thanks for participating in this effort!

Artists, Labels, and Management

Artists, Labels, and Management

Music and Artists are vital parts of people’s lives and are among the most influential voices in our culture. There are several ways artists and industry professionals can help increase the vote this fall, including the big two:

-    Record messages urging fans to vote.  Participating radio stations around the country will carry your message to millions.

-    Use your social platforms to encourage voting. Whether it’s tweets or videos or posts – or all of those – your voice can persuade and remind fans and followers to exercise their power to vote.

Audio Messages

Your fans listen when you speak, and your encouragement can help move people to register and vote this fall. The key points are:

-    Voting matters! Your voice matters.

-    You must be registered before you can vote

-    For registration information, go to vote.gov

-    Vote – with friends.  (Research indicates people – especially young people - are more likely to vote when it’s a social activity and/or they sense that others in their peer group are voting).

We have provided some sample copy below, but feel free to put these messages into your own words (and of course, identify yourself in the message).  Please keep it non-partisan - while you can endorse candidates on your personal platforms, endorsement of specific candidates or parties carries all sorts of legal problems for broadcast media.

Record as many messages as you like, but please record at least one from each of the three categories below:

A.   Register - for listeners/fans who live in states that allow online registration (39 states do).
B.    Register - for listeners/fans who live in other states.
C.   Vote!

When done, please send your file (preferably .wav or mp3) to info@yougotta.vote and we’ll post it right away!

Social Media

As an artist, the power of your social media is enormous.  Please remind your followers and fans to register (send them to vote.gov for information in their state) and, of course, to vote.

Don’t forget that people are more likely to vote when it’s a social thing.  If they vote, their friends will be more likely to vote (and vice versa).   They’re also more likely to vote when they realize their vote matters and can support things they believe in, whether that’s equality, fairness, jobs, etc.  Their vote can help make America a better place.

Remember also that you can endorse specific candidates on your own platforms if you choose to.
